Young People, Experts Through Experience

Enabling young people furthest away from being work-ready to secure or take up enterprising and/or job opportunities, by improving confidence, optimism and offering intensive support through the provision of solution focused mentors

Talent Match Black Country is a voluntary engagement programme which will act as a platform to increase optimism, motivation and confidence, enabling you to grow and move forward. It is aimed at people aged 17-29 who have been out of work for a year, particularly those with an offending background. Interested?

How Talent Match helps young people

  • Have been out of work for longer than a year.
  • Are not accessing any employment support.
  • Look after children or other family members.
  • Have a disability or mental health problem.
  • Are a care leaver.
  • Are a member of travelling families.
  • Are or have been homeless.
  • Are or have been engaged in substance misuse.
  • Currently or have been involved in crime.

Talent Match recognises your right to make choices. Engagement is completely voluntary. From the outset you will opt to engage and will be supported to make conscious informed decisions. You will be supported by a mentor who will provide solution focused support. The mentor will work with you to begin to identify barriers and start to look at strategies of how to address them and move forward.

Talent Match mentors will work with you to:

  • Develop stability and help prioritise and start to address barriers identified.
  • Develop a personal plan/journey, helping you to progress through that journey.
  • Identify a range of activities for you to choose from that address issues prioritised within your personal plan.
  • Identify opportunities for volunteering & work experience that are available to progress you to where ultimately you want to be.
  • Gain confidence and skills leading to employment or starting your own business.

Talent Match mentors will work with you to:

  • Mentors only work with 10 young people, ensuring intensive and individually focused support.
  • Young People are involved in designing and purchasing their programme of support that meets their individual needs.
  • Young People at the heart of the project through membership and involvement in the Talent Match Steering Group decisions.
  • Real business involvement providing employer visits, work experience and job opportunities.
  • Voluntary, you have the choice to commit.
